For the first time in the history of the world championship, the starting 2024 line-up was identical to the one each team finished 2023 with.

That grid wasn’t the same at the end of the 2024 F1 season and, in 2025, numerous teams including Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull changed driver line-ups.

Here is the complete 2025 F1 grid.

McLaren
Lando Norris
Oscar Piastri

McLaren was the first team to have its 2025 driver line-up locked in.

Lando Norris signed a long-term contract extension with McLaren at the beginning of 2024, fighting off any advances from other teams.

During an impressive rookie season, McLaren extended Oscar Piastri’s contract in 2023 that would see him drive for the team through to the end of 2026.

Red Bull
Max Verstappen
Liam Lawson

Max Verstappen signed a six-year contract extension with Red Bull at the end of 2021, securing his seat with the team until at least 2028.

Although Red Bull gave Sergio Perez a contract beyond 2025, the Mexican driver left the team in December.

Liam Lawson will step up from RB, now called Racing Bulls in his first fully contracted season in Formula 1.

Ferrari
Charles Leclerc
Lewis Hamilton

Charles Leclerc continues his stint at Ferrari after signing a contract extension in 2024 that keeps him at the Scuderia for “several more seasons.”

Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton makes a groundbreaking switch from Mercedes to join the Scuderia in 2025.

Mercedes
George Russell
Kimi Antonelli

George Russell takes the reins of the Mercedes team as he pairs up with teenage protege Kimi Antonelli, whose long-anticipated 2025 deal was announced at the 2024 Italian Grand Prix.

Aston Martin
Fernando Alonso
Lance Stroll

Having been linked with Mercedes and Red Bull in the early months of 2024, Fernando Alonso shut down any silly season rumours by committing his future to Aston Martin.

At the end of June, Aston Martin also confirmed a new deal for Lance Stroll that will keep him at the team through the first year of F1's next rules cycle in 2026.

Alpine

Pierre Gasly
Jack Doohan

In June 2024, Alpine announced Esteban Ocon would be leaving the team at the end of the season, meanwhile confirming a “multi-year” deal for Pierre Gasly.

It opted to promote 21-year-old reserve driver, Jack Doohan, who made his F1 debut at the final race of the 2024 season.

Haas
Esteban Ocon
Ollie Bearman

Nico Hulkenberg's exit left Haas with two vacancies for 2025, as his team-mate Kevin Magnussen was also out of contract at the end of the year.

It will take on an all-new line-up for 2025, snapping up Esteban Ocon and Ferrari junior Ollie Bearman as he graduates from Formula 2.

Racing Bulls
Yuki Tsunoda
Isack Hadjar

Red Bull fulfilled its option to keep Yuki Tsunoda at Racing Bulls for 2025.

With Lawson earning the promotion to Red Bull Racing, Isack Hadjar, who finished second in the 2024 F2 championship, will step up to F1 alongside Tsunoda in 2025.

Williams
Alex Albon
Carlos Sainz

Dovetailing with team principal James Vowles’ plans for a Williams revival, Alex Albon committed his long-term future to the team with a multi-year contract.

Alongside him is Carlos Sainz, who eventually picked Williams as his post-Ferrari project.

Sauber
Nico Hulkenberg
Gabriel Bortoleto

Nico Hulkenberg’s time at Haas was impressive enough to catch the eye of Sauber, becoming the first driver signed for the transitional 2025 season ahead of Sauber becoming the factory Audi team for 2026.

Hulkenberg’s team-mate is 2024 F2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto, who beat Valtteri Bottas to the second seat after months of negotiations.
